Due to rough seas caused by adverse weather, boat services between St. Martin’s Island and Teknaf have been suspended for four days. As a result, residents of the island are facing shortages of daily essential goods.
Rashid Ahmed, President of the Teknaf-St. Martin’s Route Service Boat Association, stated that all boat movements have been halted for four days due to the severe weather conditions.
Foyezul Islam, Acting Chairman of the St. Martin’s Union Parishad, reported that the shortage of daily necessities is increasing. He added that the island’s fresh market and other essential supplies are nearing depletion.
Sheikh Ehsan Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Teknaf, said that if the situation does not improve within two days, alternative arrangements will be made to send essential goods to St. Martin’s Island.
