Teknaf has witnessed a bumper harvest of jackfruit this season, much to the delight of local orchard owners. Farmers enjoy a profitable season with strong market demand and favourable prices.
Several orchard owners shared that this year’s yield surpassed previous years. They attributed the improved harvest to regular monitoring and guidance provided by the Upazila Department of Agricultural Extension.
Md. Zakirul Islam, the Upazila Agriculture Officer, stated that jackfruit is cultivated on around 15 hectares. He added that to boost production and promote high-yield varieties, the department has offered farmers free training, fertilizers, pesticides, and expert advice.
