‘Cox’s Bazar Community Alliance’ has called for the installation of a timely and environmentally conscious sculpture at Kolatali Intersection, the gateway to Cox’s Bazar town.

In a statement signed by the alliance’s organiser, Mohibb ul Moqtadir Tanim, the group urged the construction of a climate-conscious and artistically significant landmark at the intersection, replacing the dilapidated shark sculpture currently there.

The organisation, formed by Cox’s Bazar residents living in Dhaka, stated that although the intersection is popularly known as ‘Dolphin Mor,’ its official name is ‘Kolatali Mor.’ They emphasised the need for an artwork that reflects the coastal environment, climate change, and environmental awareness for future generations.

Citing examples of climate-awareness sculptures from around the world, the group called for local artists, architects, and students to participate in designing a sculpture that would deliver a powerful message.

They believe that such an initiative could play a significant role in positioning Cox’s Bazar on the global stage.
