There has been a call for improved coordination between courts, law enforcement agencies, and civil society organizations to strengthen legal aid for the Rohingya community.

Key speakers included Md. Munshi Abdul Majid, District and Sessions Judge of Cox’s Bazar; Md. Akhtar Hossain, Chief Judicial Magistrate; Md. Mohammad Shamsud Douza, Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (Joint Secretary); Pralay Chisim, DIG of Cox’s Bazar APBn; Jing Song, Senior Program Coordinator of UNHCR Cox’s Bazar; and Hiroshi Miyauchi, Senior Protection Officer (Legal Protection Unit), UNHCR Cox’s Bazar.
The speakers emphasized fostering collaboration among relevant stakeholders to ensure legal assistance for the Rohingya population. They highlighted challenges and proposed solutions, including establishing a specialized investigation unit and dedicated courts, implementing inclusive policies, recruiting female camp workers, and enhancing logistical support.
Recommendations also included introducing online judicial systems for faster case resolution, enabling online General Diary (GD) filing for the Rohingya community, setting up One-Stop Crisis Centers (OCCs) in camp areas, increasing the number of judicial officials, raising legal awareness, and enforcing existing legal rights.
Representatives from the Cox’s Bazar Bar Association, law enforcement agencies, prison authorities, international organizations such as UNHCR and IOM, and national NGOs like BRAC and Jago Nari Development Organization participated.
