Even as winter fades, farmers in Darianagar, a coastal area of Cox’s Bazar, are still cultivating cauliflower. Typically a winter crop, cauliflower thrives in cool and humid conditions.
According to local farmers, several areas of Darianagar have also seen successful cabbage cultivation. While cauliflower farming has ceased in many other parts of Cox’s Bazar, the lingering cool climate near the sea has allowed cultivation to continue here.
Farmers explain that while cabbage can grow in various soil types, it flourishes best in well-drained, loamy soil with proper irrigation management.
Reports indicate that vegetable traders regularly visit Darianagar to purchase cauliflowers directly from the fields. Due to steady demand, farmers get good prices for their produce, making the late-season harvest profitable.
