The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday withdrew the local cautionary signal previously hoisted at the seaports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra as weather conditions improved.
In a bulletin, the weather office advised fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay to continue navigating with caution until Saturday evening.
The four seaports had earlier been asked to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 due to adverse weather. The signal was withdrawn following an improvement in conditions.
Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office Assistant Meteorologist Md Abdul Hannan said 32 millimetres of rainfall had been recorded in the district over the past 24 hours.
He added that heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Cox’s Bazar and other coastal areas on Sunday.
