A large-scale cleanliness campaign was successfully conducted in Cox’s Bazar under the initiative of the district administration, with the support of NGO BRAC and Cox’s Bazar Municipality.
On Thursday morning, the drive occurred at Sugandha Point and its surrounding areas, focusing on cleaning up waste left by tourists and locals along the beach.
Speaking at a discussion session held before the campaign, Cox’s Bazar Press Club President Mahbubur Rahman presided over the event. Executive Magistrate Mohammad Masud Rana attended as the chief guest. He emphasized the role of the younger generation in bringing change, stating, “Cox’s Bazar has been making commendable contributions in various sectors across the country. I am hopeful that we will also succeed in tackling plastic pollution.”
Additional speakers included Cox’s Bazar Municipality’s Executive Officer Parakram Chakma, Acting District Education Officer Mohammad Golam Mostafa, and Cox’s Bazar Hotel-Motel Owners Association President Abul Kashem Sikder.
Over 80 students from four schools, along with more than 300 volunteers and sanitation workers, actively participated in the event, which is a significant step toward maintaining the cleanliness of Cox’s Bazar’s pristine beaches.
