The Center for Environment, Human Rights, and Development Forum (CEHRDF), a youth-led platform focused on environmental and human rights issues, organized a rally and assembly demanding climate justice in the Cox’s Bazar Metropolitan Council area.

Mohammad Elias Mia, the CEO of CEHRDF, presided over a human chain at the Cox’s Bazar Central Shaheed Minar on Friday, November 8, at 3 PM. Ruhul Amin coordinated the event, while Acting Coordinator (Special) Jihadul Islam hosted it.

In his speech, Elias Mia highlighted that the COP29 conference will soon occur in Baku, Azerbaijan. This gathering served as a call to action for Bangladesh’s rightful stake in climate justice on the global stage. “Climate change is one of the most critical crises of our time, unfolding beyond the expectations of experts and causing severe natural disasters worldwide. This will only worsen, with significant impacts on current and future generations,” he remarked.

The assembly urged COP29 leaders to take decisive action to phase out fossil fuels, reduce carbon emissions to net zero, invest in green energy, and allocate climate funds transparently to affected nations. He also called on Bangladeshi youth to unite in addressing this urgent crisis.
