After a month-long shutdown due to a coal shortage, the 1,200 MW coal-fired power plant on Matarbari Island in Maheshkhali resumed coal supply after 31 days with the arrival of a ship.
On Wednesday, November 27, at 10 a.m., the Panamanian-flagged vessel DECLAN DUFF docked at the plant’s dedicated jetty, carrying 69,600 metric tons of coal.
Nazmul Haque, the Managing Director of the Matarbari Coal Power Plant, said the plant shut down for 31 days due to a coal shortage.
“However, during this time, we completed maintenance work on the units and managed to arrange coal imports from Indonesia. We will resume power generation very soon,” he added.
