In the wake of a devastating fire incident on January 14, which destroyed one eco-resort and partially damaged two others on the coral-rich island of St. Martin’s, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has taken proactive steps to raise awareness about fire safety among resort owners and residents.

The Coast Guard Ship Tajuddin, BCG Station St. Martin, and the Fire Service conducted a joint fire safety drill on Monday (January 20) on the station’s grounds.

Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Siam-ul-Haq, the Coast Guard Headquarters media officer, confirmed the initiative. He stated, “This drill aims to raise awareness among the residents of St. Martin’s Island. The Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such training programs in the future to ensure the safety of lives and property.”

Resort owners, local representatives, members of the Naval Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and senior Coast Guard officials participated in the event.

This initiative underscores the importance of preparedness and collaboration to mitigate the risks of fire-related disasters on the island.
