The National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection has launched a market monitoring initiative in Cox’s Bazar to keep the prices of fruits and essential goods stable during the holy month of Ramadan.

As part of the drive, businesses were fined for not displaying price lists, overpricing, and selling expired products.

On Tuesday afternoon, Assistant Director Hasan Al Maruf of the Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection, Cox’s Bazar, inspected supermarkets, fruit stores, and gas shops, imposing fines totalling Tk10,000 for violations.

A discussion meeting was held at the Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room to ensure the steady supply and fair pricing of essential goods during Ramadan. Following the decisions made in that meeting, market monitoring efforts have now begun to enforce compliance and prevent price manipulation.
