Extensive preparations are in full swing ahead of UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus’s visit to Cox’s Bazar. Key roads in the city are being refurbished, and significant renovations are being made in the Rohingya camps. New plastic sheets and brick platforms are installed to improve security and living conditions.
The military and local administration are working at full speed. Security measures have been significantly tightened, with new barbed-wire fencing around the main event venue. Law enforcement agencies conduct extensive reconnaissance, wrapping Cox’s Bazar in a security blanket. The camp residents are curious. Children play on the streets, while many people have gathered to witness the ongoing preparations. The entire area is abuzz with excitement.
