Bangladesh Betar’s Cox’s Bazar Regional Center organized events to celebrate World Radio Day, including rallies, discussions, and cultural programs.
This year’s theme, “Radio and Climate Change,” began the celebrations on Thursday morning at the regional radio center in Link Road. Mohammad Ashraf Kabir, Director of Bangladesh Betar, Cox’s Bazar, inaugurated the event by releasing balloons.
Speaking at the event, he emphasized that radio remains a powerful mass communication medium, ensuring the unrestricted flow of information. He highlighted its crucial role in disaster warnings, agricultural guidance, and public health awareness. While modern digital advancements have transformed the media landscape, radio remains a lifeline for rural and remote communities.
Following the inauguration, a rally with banners, placards, and festoons paraded through the city’s main roads before returning to the radio center. Radio officials, journalists, news presenters, artists, technical staff, and Community Radio Naf and Radio Saikat representatives participated in the event.
The celebrations concluded with a discussion session presided over by Director Mohammad Ashraf Kabir. Speakers reflected on radio’s evolving role in the digital age and its continued relevance in public service broadcasting.
