Cox’s Bazar celebrated Bengali New Year 1433 with day-long colorful programs marking Pahela Baishakh, one of the most cherished festivals of the Bengali people.
The celebrations began at sunrise, marking the auspicious start of the new year. At 9:00 am, the district administration held a Baishakhi procession that paraded through the town’s main roads before concluding at the Laboni Mukta Mancha premises. Participants in colorful attire, along with banners, festoons, and masks, added vibrancy to the procession.
Deputy Commissioner Md A Mannan attended the program as the chief guest, while Superintendent of Police ANM Shajadur Rahman was present as a special guest. Officials from various government and private organizations, political leaders, members of civil society, journalists, and a large number of students also joined the procession.
Following the procession, a cultural program was held at Laboni Mukta Mancha, where local artists presented music, dance, and recitation, highlighting Bengali heritage.
Meanwhile, a Baishakhi fair organized by the district administration was held at Laboni Point. Stalls featuring crafts, traditional products, and local foods attracted visitors.
The celebrations of the Bengali New Year spread messages of joy, hope, and harmony among the people of Cox’s Bazar.
