Like the rest of the country, the Hindu community in Cox’s Bazar is celebrating Saraswati Puja, one of their most significant religious festivals, with enormous devotion. From Monday morning (February 3), temples, educational institutions, and private venues have been hosting rituals in honor of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of wisdom and knowledge.

The pavilions (mandaps) are resonating with the rhythmic beats of the dhak, ululation, and conch shell sounds, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. According to Hindu beliefs, this day marks the birth of Goddess Saraswati, and countless devotees are offering floral tributes at her feet, seeking blessings to dispel ignorance and illuminate their lives with wisdom.

In Cox’s Bazar, the central Kalibari, Saraswati Bari, Krishnanandadham in Ghonar Para, and Baidyaghona are among the hundreds of locations where the puja is being observed.

Moreover, Cox’s Bazar Government High School, Government Girls’ High School, Cox’s Bazar Medical College, Government College, Women’s College, and Cox’s Bazar City College are also hosting puja celebrations.

Students participating in the puja expressed their prayers for wisdom, knowledge, and the well-being of the world.

The temples and educational institutions have been vibrantly decorated, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The celebrations include prasad distribution and cultural performances following the religious rituals.

To ensure a peaceful observance, local authorities have tightened security measures. Local authorities have deployed police officers and volunteer groups to maintain order at temples and puja venues.

The Hindu community believes that Saraswati Puja spreads the light of knowledge across society.

With such a joyous and well-organized celebration, Cox’s Bazar hopes for a harmonious and enlightening festival experience this year.
