After over a decade, the Cox’s Bazar Civil Society (CCS) has restructured its committee with a renewed vision. On Tuesday afternoon, a 26-member committee was formed based on member consensus, including a 5-member executive body and 11 subcommittees. The reformation was unanimously approved during the meeting.
Abu Morshed Chowdhury, the organization’s founder, has been elected the committee’s president, while renowned academic Nasir Uddin has been named the General Secretary. Other key executive committee members include Professor Shirin Noor and Advocate Ramiz Ahmed, vice president, and Abid Hasan Sagar, treasurer.
Established in 2007 under Abu Morshed Chowdhury’s leadership, the CCS aimed to bring representatives from various professional sectors together to address community challenges. However, due to various reasons, the organization’s activities have been largely dormant in recent years.
On January 28, 2025, the executive committee was restructured to focus on sector-based research and publications, and the new leadership was given a two-year term.
To ensure effective operations, 11 subcommittees were introduced under the executive body. These subcommittees will focus on identifying sector-specific challenges and developing actionable solutions.
The newly formed committee aims to rejuvenate the CCS’s role in addressing community issues, fostering collaboration, and driving sustainable development in Cox’s Bazar.
