Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan and Superintendent of Police ANM Shajadur Rahman have inspected several Durga Puja mandaps and idol-making activities to assess preparations and security ahead of the upcoming Hindu festival.

They visited different puja mandaps on Monday evening, examining security arrangements, lighting, volunteer deployment and emergency communication systems.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic), leaders of the Puja Celebration Council and members of the relevant mandap management committees accompanied them during the inspections.

The officials also exchanged views with puja organisers and enquired about preparations, security measures and other requirements. They assured the organisers of necessary administrative support to help ensure peaceful and festive celebrations.

The administration said Cox’s Bazar had a longstanding tradition of communal harmony and goodwill. It reaffirmed its commitment to preserving peaceful coexistence among people of all faiths in keeping with the principle that everyone has their own religion, but festivals are for all.

The district administration and law enforcement agencies remain alert to maintain law and order during Durga Puja and ensure that worshippers can celebrate without disruption.

The authorities also urged people not to be misled by rumours or provocation and to help preserve communal harmony.
