Cox’s Bazar Government College formally inaugurated the annual sports competition 2026 on Monday morning, amidst a festive atmosphere on the college campus.

Professor Abul Hasnat Md Mofizul Haque, the college principal, inaugurated the two-day event at the college playground.

The opening ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Professor Rezaul Karim Mohammad Tarek, convener of the Annual Sports Competition 2026. The college’s vice-principal, Professor Md Ohidul Islam, attended the programme as a special guest. Also present were the teachers’ council secretary Muhammad Ullah, heads of various departments, teachers, and a large number of students.

In his inaugural speech, Principal Professor Abul Hasnat Md Mofizul Haque highlighted the importance of sports for students’ physical and mental development, noting that regular participation helps foster discipline, leadership qualities, and tolerance.

The first day concluded with a series of events, all successful, in a vibrant, festive environment. With enthusiastic student participation and a strong presence of spectators, the college playground remained lively throughout the day.

The event will end on January 20 with the winners receiving their prizes.
