With the upcoming Pahela Baishakh holidays, Cox’s Bazar is gearing up for an influx of tourists. Hotels, motels, and resorts across the city have already started accepting bookings in anticipation of the holiday rush.

In 2025, Pahela Baishakh (April 14) falls on a Monday. Government employees typically receive a day off on this occasion. However, with April 11 (Friday) and April 12 (Saturday) being weekends, many may enjoy an extended break from April 11 to April 14. Taking advantage of this, travelers may set off for Cox’s Bazar on the night of April 10 or the morning of April 11, celebrating the Bengali New Year before returning on April 15.

Hotelier Kaisser Mahmud stated, “We expect a significant rise in tourist numbers during the Pahela Baishakh holidays. To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay, we are enhancing our services and making all necessary preparations.”

However, concerns remain over the intense summer heat in Chaitra (the last month of the Bengali calendar). Some hoteliers worry that the scorching temperatures might affect travel plans and lead to fewer tourist arrivals.

The Tourist Police, district administration, and hotel owners’ association coordinate to ensure security and quality service. Authorities have also issued warnings against overpricing and visitor harassment.

Cox’s Bazar is fully prepared to accommodate the festive crowd, ensuring tourists have a seamless and enjoyable holiday experience during Pahela Baishakh.
