The third edition of the Cox’s Bazar Marathon 2025 concluded in a festive atmosphere early Saturday morning with the participation of around 1,500 runners. The event, themed “Every Step for Wellness and the Ocean,” was organized by the Cox’s Bazar Runners Community in collaboration with the Cox’s Bazar District Administration.

The marathon began at 4:30 a.m. from Laboni Beach Point and featured four categories: 42.2 km (full marathon), 21.1 km (Half Marathon), 10 km (Mid Run), and 2.5 km (Kids Run).

Runners started from Laboni Beach, passing through Holiday Mor, Thana Road, Khurushkul, Chaufaldandi, Pokkhali, and Islampur’s Khan Beach, before returning to Laboni Beach to finish the race.

In the 42.2 km Full Marathon (Men’s Category), Rahim Uddin clinched first place.
In the 21.1 km Half Marathon, Mamun secured the top position in the men’s category, while Afroza Akter Rikta won in the women’s division.
In the 10 km Mid Run, Jakir Hossain and Bipasha took first place in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.
Among children, Safin Omayir won the boys’ 2.5 km run, while Wasina Binte Amid finished second in the girls’ event.

Race Director S. M. Sadeq, a key member of the organizing committee, said,

“Despite several limitations and challenges, we successfully completed this event. Our goal is to promote fitness and wellness among the youth of Cox’s Bazar while showcasing our district to the world through marathon tourism.”

The award ceremony, held at the Laboni Open Stage, was graced by Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan as the chief guest. He remarked,

“The Cox’s Bazar Marathon is not just about running — it symbolizes perseverance and enthusiasm. This initiative will inspire the youth and help advance the image of Cox’s Bazar.”

Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mohammad Samsud Douza Nayan, who presided over the program, said,

“It’s a matter of pride that such a well-executed event was organized by local youth. Events like this play a significant role in promoting tourism.”

Other notable guests included Additional District Magistrate Shahidul Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Imran Hossain Sajib, footballer Shaheda Akter Ripa, Chairman of Chuti Group Mostafa Mohammad Alfi, AGM of Akij Bicycles Azam Bin Tarek, ILO National Program Manager Mohammad Nabid Akbar, and Everest summiteer and event ambassador Dr. Babar Ali, among others.

The vibrant event was title-sponsored by Akij Bicycles and powered by Chuti Beach Resort.
