Cox’s Bazar Municipality has initiated a drain cleaning campaign in the hotel motel zone, a key tourist area. Municipal Administrator Rubaiya Afroz inaugurated the campaign on Friday night at Lighthouse Road to resolve the city’s persistent waterlogging issues.
Administrator Afroz said that the campaign follows a decision made at a district administration meeting to alleviate the suffering of city residents caused by waterlogging.
Several community leaders have welcomed the initiative, including Abul Kashem Sikdar, President of Cox’s Bazar Hotel-Motel Guest House Owners Association, and Nasima Akter Bakul, a former municipal councilor. Executive Engineer Parakram Chakma and representatives from various political parties were also present at the event.
