The 54th National Cooperative Day was celebrated in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday with the theme “Cooperatives Build the Nation through Equality and Equity.” The day was marked by the hoisting of national and cooperative flags, a rally, a discussion meeting, and an award ceremony.
The events were jointly organized by the District Administration and the District Cooperative Office. Following the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises, a colorful rally paraded through the town.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the DC office’s conference room with Deputy Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan as the chief guest.
In his speech, the DC emphasized the need to raise public awareness about cooperatives for sustainable social development.
“To make the cooperative movement more dynamic, we must all work together in a coordinated way,” he said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Imran Hossain Sajib presided over the event, which was also attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Ahmed Payer, District Cooperative Officer Mostafa Kamal, Baitush Sharaf Complex Director General M. M. Sirajul Islam, and President of Cox’s Bazar Central Cooperative Bank Ltd Syed Ahmad Uzzal.
Speakers at the event highlighted the role of cooperatives in improving livelihoods and reducing social inequality.
Officials from various government and non-government departments and representatives from multiple cooperative societies attended the program.
At the end of the ceremony, four cooperative societies and one individual were honored with the National Cooperative Award for their outstanding contributions.
