Cox’s Bazar observed International Mother Language Day and Amar Ekushey February with deep reverence. In the early hours of the day, people from all walks of life gathered to pay homage to the language martyrs at the Cox’s Bazar Central Shaheed Minar. Floral wreaths were placed at the memorial to honor their sacrifice.

At 12:01 AM, the district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin, was the first to lay wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.

On Friday morning, barefoot processions carrying flowers from different parts of the city converged at the memorial, reflecting a collective spirit of remembrance and gratitude. The Cox’s Bazar Central Shaheed Minar was soon covered in flowers as people honored the martyrs of the language movement and Bangladesh’s liberation struggles.

Various educational institutions across the district organized discussions and competitions to commemorate the day. Special prayers for the departed souls of the martyrs were also held in mosques, temples, and churches.
