The Cox’s Bazar district police on Monday carried out a special tree plantation programme across the district as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation and support the country’s national greening campaign.
The programme was organised under the slogan, ‘Let’s decorate the country through tree plantation, Bangladesh first’, reflecting the force’s commitment to environmental sustainability alongside its law enforcement responsibilities.
Under the overall supervision of Superintendent of Police ANM Sajedur Rahman, fruit-bearing, timber and medicinal saplings were planted simultaneously at the district police lines and all police stations across Cox’s Bazar.
According to the district police, the initiative was undertaken in solidarity with the government’s nationwide tree plantation campaign, with the aim of maintaining ecological balance, expanding green cover and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.
The police also stressed the importance of ensuring proper care of the newly planted saplings, saying tree plantation alone was not enough to build a greener, safer and more liveable Bangladesh for future generations.
The district police said it would continue to undertake similar community-oriented and environmentally friendly initiatives in the future.
