The Cox’s Bazar Sadar police station has resumed operations after about a week. 45 police officers reported for duty on the first day, and six complaints were registered. Meanwhile, 58 complaints and 26 motorcycles have been handed over to the army members who were deployed during the unrest. Additionally, police uniforms, helmets, wardrobes, cupboards, tables, and other equipment have been recovered.
After Sheikh Hasina’s departure on August 5, police activities came to a halt nationwide due to the anti-discrimination student movement.
The policemen were initially concerned for their safety, but that fear has now subsided. Operations have resumed in all police stations, and all officers have returned to duty. However, it may take a few more days for things to fully return to normal.
Maheshkhali Thana Police and tourist police also started regular activity.
