Following the long Eid-ul-Fitr holiday earlier this year, Bangladesh is once again offering a rare, extended 10-day break for Eid-ul-Azha. This time, government, private, and autonomous sector employees will enjoy over a week off—a perfect opportunity to visit the world’s longest sea beach. Local tourism stakeholders are expecting a significant influx of visitors during the holiday.

Meanwhile, the Cox’s Bazar district administration and tourism-related authorities are gearing up to manage the tourist rush and ensure a smooth, enjoyable holiday experience. Though such a long break is unprecedented for Eid-ul-Azha, the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday saw record crowds: an estimated 600,000 to 700,000 tourists visited Cox’s Bazar’s beaches and entertainment centers during the last five days of the vacation.

Given this, tourism operators are anticipating even higher numbers this time, with both domestic and foreign visitors heading to the coastal city.

Nafis Intesar Nafi, Executive Magistrate at the district administration’s tourism cell, said, “In preparation for Eid-ul-Azha, the district administration held a special coordination meeting. It was decided that strict measures would be taken to prevent overcharging by transport operators and to curb extortion from passengers. Accommodation providers have been instructed not to overcharge guests, and restaurants must display their price lists clearly.”

The administration is committed to ensuring that this Eid vacation is safe, enjoyable, and affordable for all visitors.
