Cox’s Bazar recorded 153mm of rainfall in the 24 hours until noon on Thursday, according to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office.
The rainfall was recorded until 12:00pm on Thursday, said Md Abdul Hannan, assistant meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office.
Meanwhile, according to a warning issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the low-pressure system over the North Bay and the adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh has moved north-westwards and intensified into a well-marked low.
The system may intensify further into a depression, the warning said.
Under its influence, squally winds may sweep across the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
