The world’s longest sea beach in Cox’s Bazar, stretching alongside the vast Bay of Bengal, is one of Bangladesh’s premier tourist attractions.
The 80-kilometer stretch from Cox’s Bazar to Teknaf enchants visitors with its pristine sandy shores, green rows of casuarina trees, and the occasional sight of two-toned seagulls gliding through the air.
The Bangladesh Army constructed the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive on May 6, 2017, to enhance the experience of this unparalleled beauty. This scenic 80-kilometer road begins at the Kolatoli beach in Cox’s Bazar and extends to Teknaf, offering travelers an extraordinary journey.
The road provides a unique ambiance with the salty breeze of the ocean on one side and the lush green hills on the other, creating a tranquil and immersive connection with nature.
On June 26, 2018, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism designated Marine Drive a protected tourist zone. This move marked a milestone for tourism and the nation as a whole.
The road has catalyzed Bangladesh’s transportation sector, job creation, and economic development, opening up new opportunities across various industries.
The Marine Drive has also significantly improved the lives of residents by boosting employment and fostering the growth of new businesses and services.
It has become an iconic destination, drawing domestic and international tourists and contributing to the region’s socio-economic upliftment.
Beyond its natural beauty, the Marine Drive is a testament to Bangladesh’s progress in tourism infrastructure. It bridges the gap between economic potential and cultural significance, positioning itself as a cornerstone of the country’s overall development.
This magnificent coastal highway offers a breathtaking journey and symbolizes the harmony between natural splendor, tourism growth, and economic advancement, making it a treasure for Bangladesh and its people.
