Cox’s Bazar is under a four-tier security system to ensure safety and maintain order during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. Starting December 29, the district police have implemented heightened surveillance across the city for three days.

Jashim Uddin, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), announced the establishment of ten checkpoints in key areas to monitor vehicles and individuals.

The police have also deployed plainclothes officers to bolster surveillance and implemented special measures to control traffic congestion.

No public celebrations will be on December 31, but select star-rated hotels will host some events. Strict security measures will be in place at these venues.

All licensed bars in Cox’s Bazar will remain closed on New Year’s Eve, ASP Jashim Uddin confirmed.

Meanwhile, major entry points to Cox’s Bazar beach, such as Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni, now feature police checkpoints. Tourists must pass through these checkpoints to access the beach, said Abul Kalam, the Media Spokesperson for the Tourist Police.

On December 30, security personnel searched the checkpoints, ensuring strict monitoring of suspicious individuals during a site inspection.
