Cox’s Bazar youth organiser and founder and executive director of We Can Cox’s Bazar, Md Omar Faruk Joy, is heading to Yekaterinburg, Russia, to participate in the International Festival of Youth 2026 as a member of the Bangladesh youth delegation.
The International Festival of Youth 2026 will be held in Yekaterinburg from September 11 to 21, bringing together around 10,000 selected young people from 190 countries. The international gathering will provide a platform for young people from different countries to exchange ideas, cultures, experiences and perspectives.
In a social media post, Omar Faruk Joy said he was grateful to Allah for the opportunity to attend the festival in Russia and felt honoured and delighted to have been selected as a member of the Bangladesh youth delegation.
He said the festival would be a major opportunity to learn, exchange experiences, meet new people and share ideas with young people from different countries.
“I look forward to meeting young people from different parts of the world, learning from their experiences and sharing Bangladesh’s own experiences with them,” he said.
Joy also expressed hope that the experience would help him view the world from new perspectives and provide fresh ideas and inspiration to work more meaningfully with young people and local communities.
Joy has been involved in various social and development initiatives that involve young people in Cox’s Bazar. Through We Can Cox’s Bazar, the organisation has conducted social awareness campaigns, leadership development programmes, and various community-oriented activities with the participation of young people.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the international event, Joy concluded his post by writing, “I am grateful for this opportunity. I am excited about the journey ahead. See you in Yekaterinburg.”
