In a powerful stride toward amplifying women’s voices in society, “Awaaj,” a new organization of female journalists, poets, writers, and social organizers, officially launched in Cox’s Bazar on Friday, April 11. The initiative aims to smooth the journey for women, advocate for social reform, and raise voices against injustice.
A view-exchange meeting in the Cox’s Bazar Municipality conference room at 4 PM featured the announcement.
Abdul Quddus Rana, Bureau Chief of Prothom Alo Cox’s Bazar, was present as the chief guest. Applauding the initiative, he said, “Women have so much to contribute to our society. Due to lack of opportunity and support, many of their efforts go unseen. I believe this youth-driven platform will one day play a significant role in social development.”
Shamim Akhter, poet, organizer, and Social Development Officer of Cox’s Bazar Municipality, also addressed the gathering. “It is the youth who can challenge social injustice and reshape society,” she said. “’Awaaz’ will play a crucial role in strengthening the voices of women.”
During the event, they unanimously formed a 7-member advisory panel and a 16-member executive committee.
