Bidyanondo Foundation organized a unique event titled “Market with Plastic” today at the grounds of Darianagar Government Primary School.

This initiative aimed to raise awareness about plastic pollution and reduce its use among the local population.

The program began at 10:00 AM, allowing residents to exchange plastic waste for essential goods.

Approximately 350 underprivileged families from Darianagar participated in the program, collecting over 3 metric tons of plastic waste. A partnership with a leading national recycling company will ensure 100% recycling of the collected plastic.

People set up a special market where they could trade plastic for everyday necessities. For instance, they could exchange 1 kg of plastic for 1 kg of rice, 6 eggs, and up to 19 other products. While the market price for 1 kg of plastic typically ranges from Tk20-Tk30, here it was valued at Tk50-Tk80.

The local community has significantly engaged with this program, widely praising it as an effective measure to combat plastic pollution.
