A low-pressure system over the southeastern Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression, moving west-northwestward. As a result, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports to hoist alert signal No. 1.

The Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office issued a special bulletin (No. 4) this morning, locating the deep depression in the southwest Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas (latitude 8.40°N and longitude 82.30°E).

It was located 1,860 km southwest of Chattogram seaport, 1,800 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar, 1,760 km southwest of Mongla, and 1,750 km southwest of Payra as of 6:00 AM on Wednesday. The system is likely to move further north-northwestward and intensify.
