Dhaka’s Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said today that the country has sought the extradition of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina during a bilateral meeting between Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Talking to BSS, he said Bangladesh raised various issues of mutual interest, including the extradition of Sheikh Hasina, during the meeting.

Alam said, “The 30-minute meeting was very constructive and fruitful as both leaders discussed all issues of mutual interest.”

He said the issue of Sheikh Hasina’s provocative statements delivered from India was raised at the meeting.

Besides, he said, fruitful discussions on border killings and Teesta River water sharing were also held.

This was the first meeting between the Indian Prime Minister and the Bangladesh Chief Adviser after Prof Yunus assumed charge of the interim government.
