The Bakkhali River in Cox’s Bazar is not only a natural marvel but also a vibrant reflection of local life, particularly through its traditional dinghy boats and the tireless efforts of the boatmen.

Flowing toward the sea, this river serves as a lifeline, bustling with various types of boats and daily activities.

The dinghy boats, crafted primarily from wood, are small yet sturdy vessels that provide livelihoods for the local boatmen.

From ferrying passengers across the river to fishing, these boats are integral to their daily existence.

The struggles of these boatmen along the Bakkhali River are strikingly evident. They work relentlessly, day and night, navigating the waters to sustain their families.

Although the advent of modern transportation has diminished their roles to some extent, many boatmen continue to embrace the traditional way of life, preserving a legacy that is as much cultural as it is economic.
