A meeting of the District Law and Order Committee was held in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday morning under the initiative of the district administration. The meeting took place at the Shaheed ATM Jafar Alam Conference Room of the district administration.
Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. A. Mannan presided over the meeting. In his address, the deputy commissioner said that the administration remains vigilant to ensure the overall law and order situation in the district remains stable.
He added that the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other law enforcement agencies are also maintaining heightened alertness.
The deputy commissioner emphasized that the district administration, police, and all law enforcement agencies stand firmly united against drug trafficking. He stressed that public awareness is crucial to effectively prevent and control the spread of drugs.
He also emphasised the need to intensify efforts to recover illegal firearms. Referring to the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, the deputy commissioner said that necessary measures have been taken at both district and upazila levels to ensure that candidates comply with the electoral code of conduct and to address any untoward situations before, during, and after the election.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police ANM Sajedur Rahman, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammadul Haque, and Additional District Magistrate Md. Shahidul Alam, Press Club President, Mahbubur Rahman, senior officials of law enforcement agencies, and representatives from various government departments and political parties.
The meeting discussed a range of important issues, including measures to prevent and control drug trafficking and abduction, easing public suffering by strengthening traffic management and constructing dumping stations, removing temporary roadside markets and CNG stations to ensure unrestricted movement of law enforcement agencies during the election period, and strengthening the monitoring system to keep prices of essential commodities under control.
