Four members of Dhaka University’s Rover Scout Group completed a 150-kilometer trek from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar on foot as part of their journey to achieve the prestigious “President’s Rover Scout Award.” The trek took five days and was a key requirement for earning the “Explorer Badge,” a crucial step toward the award.

The scouts—Ahsan Ullah (team leader), Sartaj Sahadat, Zainal Abedin, and Shahjahan Samrat—ended their journey with a courtesy meeting with Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin on December 17.

Their expedition started on December 13 from Chattogram College. On the first day, they covered 34 km to reach Government Gachhbaria College, followed by a 28 km trek to Lohagara Upazila on the second day.

On the third day, they walked 31 km to Chakaria Korak Bidyapith, and on the fourth day, they walked 28 km further to Eidgaon Upazila. They walked 30 km to the Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner’s Office on the fifth and final day.

Along the way, they conducted public awareness campaigns on climate change and dengue prevention and engaged in environmental observation.

Team leader Ahsan Ullah shared his excitement: “This trekking experience has been the most adventurous part of our scouting journey. We chose this route to explore the region’s history, culture, and local communities while fulfilling our scouting goals.”

Ahsan Ullah hails from Eidgaon Upazila, and Zainal Abedin from Teknaf Upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
