The Bangladesh Election Commission has begun a two-day workshop in Cox’s Bazar focusing on election management, field-level administrative experiences, and future strategies, followed by the 13th parliamentary election and referendum.

The entire commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, is taking part in the program.

According to Election Commission sources, commission members arrived in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday afternoon and are currently staying at Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa.

The workshop began on Friday and will continue until Saturday.

The theme of the workshop has been set as: ‘Experiences gained and future actions in light of the 13th National Parliamentary Election 2026’.

Field-level officials from different tiers of the Election Commission are participating in the event.

Discussions are being held about past experiences in conducting national elections, the use of modern technology in voting, maintaining law and order, polling station management, electoral challenges, and various practical solutions.

At the same time, the commission is collecting direct, field-level experience, opinions, and recommendations from election officials.

Election Commission officials said that the workshop would play an important role in making the upcoming national election more transparent, participatory and technology-driven.

They said that special emphasis was also being placed on expanding the use of information technology in the election process, simplifying voter services and strengthening administrative coordination.

Officials confirmed the successful completion of a similar workshop in Dhaka last Tuesday.

Besides the chief election commissioner, election commissioners Begum Tahmida Ahmad, Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, Abdur Rahmanel Masud and Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar are also participating in the workshop.

The senior secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, and other senior officials concerned are also present.

Election Commission officials said that all expenses related to the visit and workshop were being borne under the project titled ‘Capacity Building of the Election Commission Secretariat in Using ICT in the Electoral Process’.

The commission members are expected to return to Dhaka on Saturday afternoon after the program concludes.
