To create employment opportunities and enhance skills among local youth in the tourism sector, a training and certificate distribution program was held in Cox’s Bazar. The initiative is part of the “Probriddhi–Local Economic Development (LED)” project, jointly funded by the governments of Switzerland and Bangladesh.

The event took place yesterday at the Cox Carnival auditorium near Laboni Point, organized by the Academy of Information Technology (AIT). The training program aims to build a skilled workforce in the region’s booming tourism industry.

Md. Babul Mia, Additional Secretary of the Planning Ministry, attended as the chief guest. The session was presided over by Rubaiya Afroze, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Administrator of Cox’s Bazar Municipality. Md. Wahedur Rahman, Project Director and official from the Local Government Division, also addressed the event alongside other dignitaries.

Speakers emphasized that such capacity-building efforts will develop a professional workforce for Cox’s Bazar’s tourism sector, ultimately strengthening the local economy.

More than a hundred young trainees participated in the program, marking a promising step toward sustainable economic development through youth empowerment.
