The “Lifting Healthy, Empowered, and Protected Girls and Women” (LEAP) project held a district-level orientation workshop in Cox’s Bazar.
Global Affairs Canada funded the workshop, which Partners in Health and Development (PHD) implemented in a hotel conference room on Wednesday morning. The focus was on empowering local and Rohingya adolescent girls, youth, and married women by raising awareness about health rights, mental and reproductive health, gender equality, and strategies for preventing violence.
Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin attended as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of establishing hygiene corners and changing rooms in educational institutions, launching telemedicine services, and creating a women-friendly, drug-free society through collective effort.
He further encouraged the participation of members of BNCC, Scouts, and Girl Guides in activities such as preventing child marriage, organizing debates, and promoting a plastic-free environment.
