Before sunrise, fishing trawlers began arriving at the Cox’s Bazar Fishery Ghat, piercing through the morning mist. The trawlers offloaded various sea fish, which two-person teams transported in baskets to the market. Here, traders negotiate with trawler owners to purchase the catch.

This bustling scene was evident from early Saturday morning at the Cox’s Bazar Fish Landing Center, where fishermen, traders, and workers were busy handling their tasks.

Despite the usual drop in fish availability during winter, the supply of fish today seemed slightly higher, though the number of hilsa fish remained notably low. Other varieties of fish were observed in more significant numbers. Traders reported that due to the scarcity of hilsa, its price has risen, while other fish remain relatively affordable.

The activity at Fishery Ghat reflects the vibrant livelihood of those involved in Cox’s Bazar’s thriving fishing industry as they navigate seasonal challenges and opportunities.
