In recent years, debate has become an increasingly popular activity among students. Leading this movement in Cox’s Bazar are three promising young debaters from Generation Z: Rajdin Pepi, Tanzim Hossaini, and Bitt, who are inspiring the youth to embrace critical thinking and logic.

Each of these debaters has made significant strides in their respective fields, serving as role models for teenagers and young adults in the region. Their collective vision is cultivating a rational discourse and open-minded culture, contributing to Bangladesh’s overall development and societal transformation.

Rajdin Pepi highlights the importance of addressing societal issues through rational discourse. “As representatives of Gen Z, we aim to challenge the dominance of blind faith and superstitions in our society. Debate is a powerful tool to drive this change,” Rajdin states.

Tanzim Hossaini emphasizes the need for mutual respect and intellectual growth: “We want young people to speak for logic, think critically, and respect diverse opinions. Debate fosters reasoning and tolerance, essential for building a progressive and inclusive society.”

Bitt focuses on the transformative power of articulate expression: “If our generation learns to voice their opinions effectively and back them with sound arguments, we can emerge as a strong and capable nation.”

These debaters aim to popularize debate among Bangladesh’s youth and strive to instill democratic values and tolerance across society. They aim to establish a community where diverse perspectives are respected and mutual understanding prevails.

It is possible to raise awareness about pressing societal issues and encourage deeper thinking among the youth through debate.  This commitment to fostering a culture of reason and critical analysis sets these young leaders apart as torchbearers of a brighter future.
