Cox’s Bazar joined the global climate strike, demanding urgent action against the crisis. The protest, organized by the Alliance of Youth Organizations, was held on Friday (April 11) at the Cox’s Bazar Central Shaheed Minar. Over a hundred young activists from six youth organizations in the district participated.

Holding placards, banners, and artwork, the participants called for climate justice and a sustainable future. They demanded halting fossil fuel investments, promoting sustainable agriculture, and protecting vulnerable communities facing climate threats.

Following the gathering, a peaceful rally started from Shaheed Minar and concluded before the Cox’s Bazar Municipality office.

The six participating organizations were YouthNet Global, Prottasha Foundation, Tarunner Ovijatrik, YASID, Shopnotori, Diva Organization, and YES Bangladesh.

Organizers emphasized that coastal communities are among the worst affected by climate change, yet developed nations are not taking responsibility. Through this global strike, young activists made their stance clear on the need for urgent climate action.
