Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, said the government is developing an understandable early warning system to avoid the loss of lives and livelihoods in Natural calamities.

A ministry statement said she urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to developing an adequate hydrological status and outlook system.

She emphasized that the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable communities are constantly at risk due to climate hazards, making an efficient early warning system essential.

As the chief guest at a stakeholders’ consultation workshop titled “Early Warning for All through Hydrological Status and Outlook System” held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka, she stressed that early warnings are vital to building resilience.

She noted that a robust hydrological system would allow for better forecasting of potential disasters, enabling proactive measures to protect lives, property, and natural resources.

Rizwana Hasan also said real-time information on upper riparian countries is required in this regard, and she urged the collaboration of government agencies, scientific communities, and local stakeholders.
