The Swargapuri Festival, one of the oldest religious celebrations of the Buddhist community, was held on Friday in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar, in a vibrant and spiritual atmosphere.

The day-long festival featured a series of traditional rituals and religious programs, including prayers, Dhamma talks, Buddha puja, mass alms-giving (Mahasanghadan), pindadaan (offering of food to ancestors), and ceremonial lamp lighting. Thousands of devotees gathered to participate in the sacred observances.

With participation from monks of various Buddhist monasteries, local public representatives, and people of different faiths, the festival turned into a grand celebration of interfaith harmony and unity.

It is worth noting that the festival was founded 38 years ago by the late spiritual leader Pragyanmitra Mahathero. Since then, it has been held annually to mark the Bengali New Year.
