An intense heat wave has been sweeping over Chuadanga, Sirajganj, and some parts of the Khulna division for the past two days and is likely to continue for the next two days.

“This heat wave will sweep from this afternoon till Sunday. However, the heat wave may ease on Monday,” sources in the Met Office said.

Meteorologist Khandaker Hafizur Rahman told BSS that the current heat wave will prevail tomorrow and Sunday.

The country’s highest temperature was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga today, which was recorded at 39.7 degrees Celsius yesterday.

The Met Office said the mild to moderate heat wave prevailing over the country may continue and may intensify in some places in the next 72 hours from 2 p.m. today.

It said a mild to moderate heat wave is prevailing over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Rajarhat, Mymensingh, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Feni, Noakhali, Chittagong, Bandarban, Barisal, and Patuakhali districts as well as Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Khulna divisions.

The lowest temperature was 22.5 degree Celsius at Dimla of Rangpur division. 

The night temperature may increase slightly.
