Cox’s Bazar has recorded a significant 176 millimeters of rainfall in the past 24 hours, according to the local weather office. Mohammad Abdul Hannan, Assistant Meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Department, said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue in the coming days.
The rainfall was measured from yesterday until 6 am today and may increase further, he added.
Meanwhile, the heavy downpour has raised concerns over potential landslides in Cox’s Bazar and the adjoining hill districts.
Due to the active southwest monsoon, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra seaports to hoist Local Cautionary Signal Number Three. Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to stay close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
