Buffalo yogurt enjoys steady demand across Cox’s Bazar throughout the year. However, according to local yogurt vendors, its popularity soars during Ramadan.

Ramzan Ali, a yogurt seller, said, “Every day, I bring buffalo yogurt from Maheshkhali to sell in Cox’s Bazar. This yogurt is a traditional delicacy of Maheshkhali.”

From morning until just before iftar, he sells each earthen yogurt pot for Tk 300 at various locations in Cox’s Bazar. “Unlike the tangy yogurt found in other regions, Maheshkhali’s buffalo yogurt has a naturally sweet taste,” he added.

Describing the process, Ali explained that fresh buffalo milk is sourced from different farms in Maheshkhali before being turned into yogurt and sold. “Many people place advance orders for weddings, aqiqah, and other events. But during Ramadan, the demand is exceptionally high,” he said.
