Cox’s Bazar observed International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day on Wednesday with the theme, “Migrants’ Rights Are Our Commitment; A Bangladesh Free from Discrimination Is for All.”  The district administration and the District Employment and Manpower Office jointly organized the day’s events.

The day began with a rally from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, marching through the town’s main streets. After the rally, the Shaheed ATM Zafar Alam Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office hosted a discussion session.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin, the chief guest, highlighted the significant contribution of expatriate workers to the country’s economic growth through remittances.

“The government is committed to ensuring good governance in migration management, creating quality overseas employment opportunities, and securing the welfare of migrant workers and their families through various initiatives,” he said.

Government officials, local representatives, student leaders, migrant families, and concerned stakeholders participated in the event.
