To ensure safe and hygienic seafood and street food for tourists visiting Cox’s Bazar, a joint operation was carried out by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.

The operation took place yesterday at various seafood and street food stalls around the popular Sugandha Point along the beach. The drive was led by Mohammad Hasan Al Maruf, Assistant Director of the local Consumer Rights office.

During the operation, nearly 40 kilograms of rotten fish—kept for sale—were seized and destroyed.

Moreover, they fined five establishments a total of Tk 32,000 for selling food in unhygienic conditions and violating health safety regulations.

The raid was conducted in the presence of District Food Safety Officer Md. Nazmul Islam, Prosecution Officer Jaharlal Pal, members of the Tourist Police, and other officials.

Authorities have stated that such drives will continue to protect the health and rights of tourists and promote responsible food practices at the country’s most visited beach destination.
